Jim Wilcox, Executive Director

Moving to Eugene in ‘73 to attend the U of O, Jim was struck by the growing bike infrastructure and began advocating for cycling following a trans-America ride in ‘76. Jim has a Masters in Education and is a League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructor. He has experience in media, development, and marketing. In addition to directing BikeLane, Jim is a Program Consultant for Mobis/Bikestation, and serves on the board of Oregonians for Science and Reason, Institute for Sustainability Education and Ecology, GreenLane Sustainable Business Network, and the Lane County Roads Advisory Committee. “Cycling is the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit for our communities.”

Kay is a competitive/recreational rider with a local woman's racing team called the Poplollies. The Poplollies are dedicated to volunteering for organizations that promote the public benefits that all forms of cycling provide. As a City Planner for the City of Junction City, Kay has a professional interest in alternative modes of transportation and supporting/guiding policies that promote transportation choices within a community.

Board Chair Greg Hoard is a CPA for a local real estate development company; formerly he was managing editor of Tandem & Family Cycling Magazine.  In addition to cycling, Greg and his wife Marlene also compete in triathlons.  “Cycling is such a healthy activity for people of all ages; if children are introduced to cycling at a young age, it can be a life long pursuit and a great way to maintain fitness throughout the years."

Bill began his career in the Navy Seabees and served in Vietnam. He worked at local bike shop in Eugene while attending the U of O from ’73 to ’77. Bill was an area manager for an auto parts store with 124 stores in Texas and Oklahoma. Returning to Eugene in 1990.
   “To return to the bike business in my later years has been very rewarding. I think the bicycle is the way of the future in many respects. It brings fitness and well being while saving money and supporting the local economy. It is of great benefit to our country and the air we breathe. “But the best thing of all it taking a nice long ride out in the country on a beautiful day and enjoy the beauty that is so rich in Oregon.

Rick has been an avid cycler since age 14 when he started riding around his small hometown in southern Michigan.  Since moving to Eugene his mileage has increased dramatically and so has his involvement with local bicycling advocacy groups.  In addition to his software engineering job, he found time to write a book called "Off-Street Paved Bike Paths in Oregon".Rick is the main energy behind our Freedom Bikes Program.

Marty

Marty was Controller at Burley for six years and has degrees from Boston University and University of Maryland. While living in Europe for nine years, Marty appreciated how Europeans endorsed cycling. Married 23 years, Marty has two daughters, both in college. He is an avid skier, soccer enthusiast and bike commuter. One of the first to mountain bike Slickrock near Moab, Utah. "I feel an obligation to commute by bike, both for my health and to do my part to improve our air quality in the Willamette Valley."
